THE HERO
The story of spider-man begins with a student, Peter Parker. Parker was a brilliant young man taking after his parents, CIA agents Richard and Mary Parker. He was orphaned at age six and began living with his aunt and uncle, Ben and May Parker, from there on out. In high school, Parker's scholastic abilities coupled with his shyness made him a social outcast. During a class visit to OsCorp Laboratories, Peter Parker was infected. He was bitten by a genetically modified spider; a spider with DNA spliced from the most exotic forms of arachnid to create a "super spider." When Parker was bitten, he began to development abilities similar to that of the spider. He noticed increased strength, agility and even the ability to stick to and climb walls; all which were immediately associated with the spider bite. Parker used the origin of his powers as an identity, basing his costume and name on the extraordinary arachnid. To test his new found abilities, he entered a contest calling for masked wrestlers. Parker created wrist-mounted web shooters to further his costume. After the contest had finished, he allowed a thief to escape claiming it was not his responsibility to interfere. Parker returned home later to find that the same thief had murdered his uncle. Filled with remorse, he realized that when one has great power, it is their obligation to use that power responsibly and for the greater good. A hero was born.

THE BUG
The insect universe is far more diverse than the Marvel. The spider is one of the most recognized and feared of all insects, while there are over 40,000 types of arachnids. How do we know what we are seeing? Spiders are classified as arthropods. Arthropods are characterized as have jointed legs and an exoskeleton. Anthro- is latin for joint and -poda for foot. Furthermore, the class arachnida is described to have four pair of legs, and two body parts, the cephalothorax and the abdomen. Spiders also have a set of fangs, venom glands, spinnerets, and a pair of pedipalps. Spinnerets are standard among all spiders; they are all capable of spinning silk. The silk is used to create webs, trap prey, wrap eggs and form burrows. Silk is a safety, defense and domestic asset for all within the arachnid family.
