INTRODUCTION
Marvel Comics is one of the front runners in both the film and graphic novel industries. Many of you are already well acquainted with our super friends from the tiniest of heroes to the most indestructible, from Ant-Man to the Incredible Hulk. Over the past few decades, comic books have been an intricate part of American culture. In more recent year, the film industry has turned it's sights on exploiting our past generations love for comics by throwing them on the big screen. Marvel was founded in 1963 by Martin Goodman, though the face of the company continues to be former president, writer, editor, publisher, and chairman, Stan Lee.
This web page dives head first into the marvel universe and comic book culture. We will examine the heroes and villains with the appearance, powers or backgrounds with ties to insects. The frontrunner, of course, is the Peter Parker/Spider-man duality. We will also touch on Janet Van Dyne/The Wasp, Annihilus, The Arthrosians, and The Brood.

THE CREATOR & DESIGNERS
Stan Lee is a very recognized name and face; the father of the most popular characters of the last fifty years. Stanley Martin Lieber (i.e. Stan Lee) was born December 28, 1922. Co-creator of many of Marvels most recognizable heroes, Stan Lee is also a writer, editor, publisher and producer. He has made consistent appearances in Marvel media, making cameos dating back to 1980, wherever his creations are shown. Lee first became involved in the comic book industry in 1939 as an assistant at Timely Comics. Growing up during the Great Depression, Lee was molded into a devoted and dangerous businessman. The Marvel Revolution is largely attributed to the works of Stan Lee. Since then, he has been the forerunner and face of the company. He continues to hold a seat as chairman of the company.
Stan Lee is our common denominator. Each of the characters shown are a result of collaboration. Within each section, we will see the other parent specific to that character.
